The nature of asking questions is to gain knowledge or information pertinent to the individual asking the question. I don’t understand why people ask questions that have nothing to do with them. The two questions I’m frequently asked leave me scratching my head: ‘Why do you smile so much?’ and ‘Are you always happy?’ A better question is, ‘What is the source of your joy?’ This question comes from a place of wanting to gain knowledge that could help the individual asking it find their own joy. I will answer this question all day long. The ‘Why do you smile so much” questions, I don’t answer so much. This question is filled with accusations, assumptions, and suspicion. The Temptations’ song conveys the sentiment, “Smiling faces, smiling faces tell lies and I got proof.” Not always true.

I think of it like this: no one asks a tree, ‘Why do you have so many leaves?’ It’s just a part of being a tree. In the same way, I choose to smile and find the silver lining in situations. Like a tree with many leaves, it’s who I am.
